About Color Conversion
Color conversion is essential in design and web development. Different color formats are used in different contexts: HEX for CSS, RGB for pixel manipulation, HSL for intuitive color adjustments, and CMYK for printing.
Color Formats
Hexadecimal format used in CSS. Represents colors with 6 digits (RRGGBB) preceded by #.
Red, Green, Blue. Each component ranges from 0 to 255. RGBA adds a transparency channel.
Hue, Saturation, Lightness. More intuitive for color adjustments.
Hue, Saturation, Value (brightness). Common in color pickers.
Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key (black). Used in professional printing.
Color Variations
Tints are created by adding white to the base color. Shades are created by adding black. Tones are created by adding gray. These variations are useful for creating harmonious monochromatic palettes.
Usage Tips
Use HSL for intuitive adjustments - change only the hue for related colors, saturation for intensity, and lightness to brighten or darken. CMYK is only needed for printing; for web, always use RGB or HSL.
